Southport 0 Worcester 1

It had to happen sometime but surely Worcester didnt deserve to win today and end Southports home league unbeaten run. Southport had the majority of possession and plenty of corners and free kicks but couldnt get the ball in the net. Late in the second half Worcester scored and after that Southport didnt look like they would get anything from the game. Blakeman was on the bench and couldnt even get a run out when Southport needed goals.

If Southport had a goal scorer to play with any of the other strikers we would have won this match easily. Oh for Terry Fearns and his goals that got us promoted last time.
Charlie has spent the money before to win this league, will he do it again?

Marine 2 Southport 1

A very poor performance from Southport after a bright start and an opening goal from Tony Gray. Could this have been the last game for Liam Blakeman in a Southport shirt?
Former Southport player Darren Brookfield had a good game. The Panamanian football coach in the crowd enjoyed the match but wasn't impressed with the quality of football from Southport.

Burscough 1 Southport 1

After a nice New Years Day walk to the ground I was looking forward to seeing some decent football between two good Conf North sides. There were plenty of familiar faces on the opposition for both sets of fans, sadly the Southport supporters werent too friendly to our former favourites and had to be warned about sectarian and racist abuse.
The game was okay but Southport looked like champagne left over from the night before, a little lacking in fizz. Both sides attacked but it was Burscough who took the lead. Southport had had a change in keeper, with Whiteside dropped to the bench after his nightmare performance against Barrow, Smith was on loan to Fleetwood and Drench had come in on loan from Morecambe.
Neil Robinson and Liam Blakeman worked hard and Bennett continued to show his good form. Robinson scored against his old club to bring the scores level and should have taken the lead on at least one chance.
Again Prince was left out and the squad looked lacking in experience. Burscough were combative but only Powell seemed up for a fight for Southport. Duffy was booked again and will surely miss some games soon.
It was a fair result but both sides should have expected to win the match.
Southport need something extra and have looked below par for a while now. Players like Prince and Gray haven't continued the fine form they had at the start of the season and the team is lacking as a result.
