The first home game for yet another new manager at Haig Ave. Three new players brought in to replace the ones the club let go with Cook.
The game didnt start well and Southport were soon a goal behind. With the fans discussing how terrible their team were it wasn't long before Southport were another goal down. With the team written off a well placed cross was met by Patterson in midair who vollied it into the goal past former Southport loan player Ryan Robinson. Patterson had only just come on as as sub 20 minutes into the first half and scored almost straight away.
Southport hit the bar once in the first half but rarely threatened.
In the second half Southport attacked but couldn't get a goal to salvage a point, the bar was hit a couple of times and FGR cleared their line once. In truth Southport didnt look like they would win or indeed get a draw.
With yet another new striker Southport still didnt look like they could finish. The new players need time to bed in, time Southport do not have.
On the positive side Patterson played well, but it has to be noted that the two best players were Baker and Lane.
