The sun was shining at Haig Ave today but it looked like a lot of people had decided to stay indoors to watch Liverpool at home to Barnsley in the FA Cup. Southport started well and looked like they could do well today. Nuneaton Borough were the worst side I have seen this season and had even worse striking ability than Southport have of late. Typically though Southport shot wide and high. Neil Robinson finally scored and Southport looked like taking thier lead into the half time break but just before the whistle would have gone Drench conceeded a penalty making it 1-1 at half time.
Southport didn't start the second half as well as the first and Nuneaton had much more of the action. Nuneaton threatened but it was Southport who put them in the lead with an own goal. Blakeman came on and looked like he could have done more with more time on the pitch. Neil Prince who had a gret game scored the equalising goal and despite presure Southport had to ettle for a 2-2 draw in a game they should have won easily.
The good news was Liverpool lost.
