Not many Southport fans bothered to go to Haig Ave today to watch the last pre-season game, against Rochdale. It was a gloriously sunny day today and Southport started today as they finished Wednesdays match against Wigan. Duffy and Noone were on the wings again and Gray and Kilheeney were up front. Kevin Lee was at right back in what could be his last Southport game.
Southport had a good first half with plenty of possession and chances. Michael Powell got the ball in the net after a goal mouth scramble.
The second half didn't carry on in the same style as the first. Rochdale looked a better side and Southport's substitutions didnt improve the game.
Rochdale scored two very good goals to end the game 2-1.
Noone was the best Southport players today. Daly will be disappointed again with his performance. Tony Gray looks to be the best striker.
